As a mother of two, I am passionate about my children growing up to love Mackay as much as I do. Although we have lived overseas and interstate at different times throughout my career, I made the effort to return to Mackay every year so that my children could enjoy the wonderful lifestyle this city has to offer.

 

I am committed to ensuring that Mackay is a safe place for my family and that the opportunities for education, sport, recreation and employment encourage my children to stay in the region and invest in its potential in the future.

 

I believe as a councillor my job would be to consult extensively with the community and work hard to ensure the people of Mackay have a voice and their needs and wants are prioritised. I am highly motivated to get results and answers – and not add your concerns to a never seen again list. Transparency and accountability in decision-making are paramount. I have always operated with honesty and integrity and my values would not be undermined in the political arena.

 

Sport has been an important aspect of my life and I strongly believe that Mackay can benefit from improved infrastructure, access and resources for all residents to engage in sport and recreation. This focus is one way to improve the social wellbeing of Mackay citizens. Mental health and suicide rates are issues in this city and providing opportunities, resources and outlets for our at risk population are extremely important matters that I wish to advocate for if elected.

 

Mackay will need diversity in all sectors to ensure prosperity and sustainability into the future. I am eager to work with business and industry leaders to promote and implement innovative ideas and practices to guarantee that Mackay will be a prosperous, sustainable, innovative city of choice for our current and future citizens.
